  1. CNES ends 2019 with final flourish as ANGELS and EyeSat are sent into orbit

    The two satellites have departed Earth from the Guiana Space Centre atop a Soyuz launcher and are now operating over our heads. ANGELS, built by Hemeria with support from CNES, is the first French commercial nanosatellite to enter service, and EyeSat was developed through CNES’s JANUS1 student cubesat project.

    Five times more powerful and 10 times smaller than its predecessors, ANGELS has been designed to address the current challenges of New Space: miniaturization, scaled-up performance and very low consumption. This technological wonder is opening up its services to current users and offering IoT players premium access to this new connectivity. ANGELS gives a first taste of the opportunities provided by Kinéis, the first constellation of European nanosatellites dedicated to IoT. Carrying a state-of-the-art ARGOS instrument, ANGELS is the operationnal proof of the success of the French nanosatellite sector, supported by CNES and leading manufacturers such as Thales Alenia Space, HEMERIA and Syrlinks.

  4. Soyuz successfully orbits CosmoSkyMed Second Generation, CHEOPS, ANGELS, EyeSat and OPS-SAT from Guiana Space Centre

    Wednesday 18 December, Soyuz accomplished a flawless launch from the Guiana Space Centre (CSG), Europe’s spaceport in Kourou, orbiting COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation for the Italian space agency ASI and the Italian Ministry of Defence, CHEOPS for the European Space Agency (ESA), ANGELS and EyeSat for CNES, and OPS-SAT for operator Tyvak on behalf of ESA. Soyuz thus accomplished its 23rd mission from the CSG, its third launch in 2019 and the ninth flight of the year in all from the base.

  5. Defence Innovation Forum- CNES and NEXEYA present ANGELS, France’s first industrial nanosatellite

    At the first Defence Innovation Forum being held at the Cité de la Mode et du Design in Paris from 22-24 November, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall welcomed Florence Parly, France’s Minister for the Armed Forces, on CNES’s stand in the French defence procurement agency DGA’s Innovation area, where she was given a presentation of the ANGELS programme.
