  2. “Inventing the future of space” CNES’s signature theme for the 52nd International Paris Air Show

    Ahead of the 52nd International Paris Air Show that will be opening its doors Monday 19 June at Le Bourget, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall gave a conference for the national and international press today. He took the opportunity to address French space policy issues and present the new features that CNES will be showcasing at Le Bourget, revolving around the agency’s signature theme of “Inventing the Future of Space”, in a futuristic pavilion where digital technologies will be centre stage.

  3. State visit of French President to Republic of Korea- Preparations for space agenda of COP21, Memorandum of understanding signed on space and climate

    Wednesday 4 November in Seoul, in the presence of French President François Hollande and his Korean counterpart, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Gwang-Rae Cho, President of KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute), signed a memorandum of understanding on space cooperation.

    Tuesday 24 May, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in Rabat at the invitation of Abdellatif Loudiyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for the administration of National Defence, whose remit covers space affairs. The meeting, also attended by Zakaria Moudden, Director of the Royal Centre for Space Studies and Research (CRERS), and Driss El Hadani, Director of the Royal Centre for Remote Sensing (CRTS), reviewed progress on the framework agreement signed on 28 May 2015 in Paris and implementation of the New Delhi Declaration ahead of the COP22 to be held in November in Marrakesh.

  5. World’s space agencies unite to face the climate challenge

    For the first time, under the impetus of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the French Space Agency (CNES), space agencies of more than 60 countries agreed to engage their satellites, to coordinate their methods and their data to monitor human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.

    The traditional annual Spring Meetings in Paris of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) are taking place at the CAP15 Conference Centre until 24 March. Concluding yesterday’s committee meetings, a roundtable session was held on the theme of ‘COP21 Results and their Impact on Space Activities’, at which CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was one of the speakers.

  7. New Delhi Declaration comes into effect- World’s space agencies working to tackle climate change

    The New Delhi Declaration officially came into effect Monday 16 May, translating the intent of the world’s space agencies to support the Paris Agreement reached at the COP21 climate conference. This declaration is a first, having achieved consensus across the global space community. More than 60 nations have signed up to work together to establish an international, independent system for estimating and curbing global greenhouse gas emissions based on accepted data.

  8. COP21 space agenda: CNES and DLR reaffirm commitment to developing MERLIN satellite

    In the presence of Thierry Mandon, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, and Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and Federal Government Coordinator of German Aerospace and Information Technology Policy, CNES and its German counterpart DLR met on Tuesday 8 December at Le Bourget in Paris to reaffirm their commitment to jointly developing the MEthane Remote sensing LIdar missioN (MERLIN) satellite that is set to measure concentrations of methane in Earth’s atmosphere with unprecedented precision.

  9. State visit of the President of Kazakhstan- Preparations for space agenda of COP21, CNES and Kazcosmos step up cooperation

    Thursday 5 November, in the presence of French President François Hollande and his Kazakh counterpart, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Talgat Mussabayev, Chairman of Kazcosmos, the aerospace committee at the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, signed a letter of intent to step up space cooperation between France and Kazakhstan.

  10. Historic universal climate agreement in Paris Satellites to play a vital role in its implementation

    COP21 ended in Paris on Saturday 12 January 2015 with a huge achievement, by sealing a historic, universal agreement against global warming. It represents a huge victory for all the space agencies that have been working towards it and is particularly gratifying for CNES, which played a major role in preparing for COP 21 and will continue over the coming years to put all of its tools and resources towards the climate, mainly thanks to the contribution of the MERLIN and Microcarb satellites.
