    Monday 15 October in Paris, on the occasion of the state visit to France of South Korea’s President Moon Jae-In and in the presence of Frédérique Vidal, France’s Minister for Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and You Young-Min, South Korea’s Minister of Science and ICT, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall, Lim Cheol-Ho, President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), and Jang Jae-Dong, Director at the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA, National Meteorological Satellite Center), signed a letter of intent concerning the Space Climate Observatory (SCO).

    CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in South Korea on Monday 2 July to meet the key leaders of the country’s space sector, including Lim Cheol-Ho, President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), and Nam Jae-Cheol, Head of the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The main purpose of his visit was for CNES to present the state of progress on the Space Climate Observatory (SCO). It followed the 2nd France-Korea Space Forum in Paris on Tuesday 3 April, organized by CNES and KARI and attended by numerous politicians, scientists, administrative officials and representatives from across the French and Korean space sector. It is part of preparations for South Korean President Moon Jae-In’s state visit to France in October.

    Monday 12 December, at the invitation of Fabien Penone, France’s Ambassador to South Korea, and Choi Yang-Hee, South Korea’s Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall and Cho Gwang-Rae, President of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), were in Seoul for the France-Korea Space Forum as part of the France-South Korea 2015-2016 year, marking 30 years of space cooperation between the two nations.

  4. From Daejeon 2016 to Marseille 2018 CNES all set to organize next SpaceOps

    The 14th SpaceOps International Conference on Space Operations took place from Monday 16 to Friday 20 May in Daejeon, South Korea, organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). This year’s conference centred on the theme of “Expanding the Space Community” and provided the opportunity for KARI to hand over to CNES and Daejeon to Marseille, which will be hosting the next edition of SpaceOps in 2018.

  5. CNES in Seoul for annual APSCC conference from New Space to Smart Space

    CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall was in Seoul, South Korea, on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September, where he was the guest speaker at the opening of the annual conference and exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council (APSCC). Under the banner ‘Stay Connected’, this year’s event is highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing the satellite and related services industry. On the sidelines of the conference, Jean-Yves Le Gall met Chin-Young Hwang, Executive Director of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI).
