  2. CNES at the 2019 International Paris Air Show- French Guiana takes centre stage

    For the 53rd International Paris Air Show, CNES organized its traditional French Guiana Day on Thursday 20 June. French Guiana is a key asset for Europe’s space programme, with the ideal location of the Guiana Space Centre (CSG)—the world’s most efficient launch base—guaranteeing an independent space launch capability and projecting the region on the world stage. Space supports 4,700 direct, indirect and induced jobs in the territory, equivalent to 15% of its GDP.

  3. ArianeWorks selects MyCTO to prototype stage-recovery concept for Themis

    ArianeWorks, the acceleration platform launched by CNES and ArianeGroup last February, is geared notably towards ramping up development of the THEMIS low-cost reusable first-stage demonstrator, working in partnership with SMEs and start-ups. To this end, it has selected MyCTO, a young rapid-prototyping firm in the Paris region spotted at the Station F campus through FrenchTech and ConnectbyCNES, to build a prototype of one of the stage-recovery concepts under study.

  5. French-German space cooperation- DLR New Year event, Climate and innovation share centre stage

    Thursday 1 February, the German space agency DLR held its traditional New Year event in Berlin. On this occasion, CNES President Jean-Yves Le Gall met Pascale Ehrenfreund, Chair of DLR’s Executive Board, and Dr. Wolfgang Scheremet, Director General of Industrial Policy at BMWi, the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. His visit provided the opportunity to conduct a status check ahead of the key milestones this year for ESA and EU programmes, as well as for bilateral projects in the fields of innovation and climate. It also served to prepare for the next ESA Council meeting in Paris on 13 and 14 March.

  6. Innovation takes centre stage at CNES’s 2017 induction seminar

    From 7 to 9 March in Toulouse, CNES’s induction seminar is gathering more than 120 new recruits that have joined one of the agency’s four centres of excellence over the last 18 months. Innovation will be the watchword of this year’s seminar with a programme of novel, participative events.

    CNES President and IAF Vice-President Jean-Yves Le Gall opened proceedings at the Global Space Innovation Conference (GLIC 2015) in Munich, which this year is focused on innovation and technology transfer. The event is being organized by the IAF from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 June at the Munich Residence Palace in the Bavarian capital.

  14. MARS 2020 MISSION- WATCH THE LANDING OF THE PERSEVERANCE ROVER AND ITS FRENCH SUPERCAM INSTRUMENT LIVE

    Thursday 18 February, just before 10:00 p.m. CET, the Perseverance rover will set down in Jezero Crater, an impact basin 45 kilometres across, home to an ancient river delta that flowed 3½ billion years ago into a lake—a site that could have preserved fossil traces of past life.

  15. NASA AND CNES EXTEND INSIGHT MISSION AND FRENCH SEIS SEISMOMETER OPERATIONS ON MARS
